<p>Bijenale mladih Mediterana &#8211; Mediterranea 16 otvara se u četvrtak, 6. lipnja u 18.00 sati u Anconi, Italija. Program otvorenja (performansi, filmske projekcije, koncerti) u trajanju od tri dana zauzet će unutarnje i vanjske prostore lazareta Mole Vanvitelliana, građevine s početka XVIII stoljeća, smještene u anconskoj luci. Međunarodni kustoski tim u sastavu: Slobodne veze/Loose Associations (Nataša Bodrožić, Ivana Meštrov), Alessandro Castiglioni, Marco Trulli, Claudio Zecchi, Nadira Laggoune, Delphine Leccas i Charlotte Bank odabrao je među radovima pristiglim putem natječaja 220 umjetnika koji će sudjelovati na ovogodišnjoj izložbi <em>Mediterranea 16: Errors Allowed</em> u trajanju do 7. srpnja. 2013.</p>
<p>Ovogodišnja tema Bijenala, Errors Allowed (Greške su dozvoljene), bavi se proizvodnjom i režimima znanja, te strategijama samoobrazovanja, uzimajući u obzir Mediteran kao lakmus općih previranja, gospodarskih, političkih i društvenih promjena u posljednje dvije godine. Odabrani autori i grupe autora problematiziraju specifičan društveni kontekst, uvjete rada, te mehanizme produkcije i recepcije umjetnosti i kulture unutar njihovih sredina. Izložba je artikulirana nizom podtema u dijalogu s pristiglim radovima: Univerzitet neposluha, Nove strategije aktivizma u javnom prostoru, Umjetnik/ca kao istraživač/ica, Umjetnik/ca-građanin/ka, Čija suvremenost?, Analiza kustoskog pristupa bijenalu Mediterranea 16.</p>
<p>Mediterranea 16: Errors Allowed rezultat je rada kustoskog tima i međunarodne mreže BJCEM koja okuplja više od sedamdeset članova i partnera s područja Europe, Bliskog istoka i Afrike.</p>

<div>The public programme <strong>“SPACES: Architecture of Common”</strong> focuses on how cultural coexistence can possibly develop in the city. Through public events, the participants will discuss challenges and opportunities of public spaces in post-Soviet cities today, such as Kyiv, Tbilisi, Yerevan, and Chisinau, and reflect on how different communities, including artists and cultural workers, can solve these problems by common efforts.</div>

<div>Kateryna Botanova, director of CSM (Foundation Centre for Contemporary Art) and leading curator of “SPACES: Architecture of Common”, states that “public spaces can exist only when there is a real need in them, not an idea of a need. It seems that in the post-Soviet region they have to be created from scratch and have an architecture we are yet to imagine”. She states that on post-Soviet terrain public spaces can regain their status as those appropriated for the public use only if people consolidate and fight for them.</div>

<div>All the public events of “SPACES: Architecture of Common” will take place at the location of the former Soviet sewing factory “Yunist” in the historical part of Kyiv that is to become a cultural center within the coming years. Public protests against putting up yet another business center at this site resulted in the investor’s decision to build a cultural center for the community here. This makes “Yunist” a symbolical place, showing that local communities in Kyiv are ready to fight for their public places, and that the collaboration between citizens and business representatives is possible.</div>

<div>“SPACES: Architecture of Common” brings together local and international artists, curators, social researchers, architects and other cultural professionals along with local communities. The programme has three main components – a<a href="http://csmart.org.ua/en/catalog/?id=369" target="_blank"> discussion platform</a>, <a href="http://csmart.org.ua/en/catalog/?id=368" target="_blank">art projects</a> and <a href="http://csmart.org.ua/en/catalog/?id=370" target="_blank">evening events</a>. The discussion part will include a Public Cultural Policy Forum, public lectures, workshops, open discussions, and presentations. During four days the location of Yunist factory will become a space for art interventions of invited artists from Ukraine, Moldova, and the Russian Federation (Alevtina Kakhidze, Yuriy Kruchak, Myroslav Vaida, Alina Kopytsya, Tetyana Goryushyna, Vova Vorotnyov, Oleksandr Burlaka, Pavel Braila, Partizaning). The evening programmes will include video screenings and music performances by “Lyudska Podoba” and DRUMТИАТР.</div>

<div>Founded in 2005, CSM supports emerging and non-commercial contemporary art practices. It explores the social role of contemporary art in provoking continuous dynamic dialogue between art and society. As an institution, it serves as a platform for discussions and communication channel for artists, researchers, policy makers, and wider public. It operates as a vital communicator between the contemporary visual arts and actual social processes.</div>

<div><a href="http://www.junost.org.ua/en" target="_blank">“Yunist” Factory</a></div>
<div>“Yunist” (“Youth”) is a former Soviet sewing factory, built in the heart of the historical Kyiv. The factory stopped working in the early 1990&#8242;s and the rights to use the land were bought and sold several times. In 2008, it was purchased by one of the biggest developing companies in Ukraine. The company planned to build a business center there, but in 2012 they decided to give up on the project, because of the risks for their public image. Unfortunately, this decision did not reach the technical department in time and the whole quarter was demolished.  After a series of mass protests and public actions, the company publicly apologized to the citizens of Kyiv and promised to build something for their use at this location. A Public Board was gathered through an open voting process for important and trustworthy public figures on the project web-site. After eight months of debates the Board has decided that a multifunctional cultural centre should be built at the territory of the former factory.</div>

<p>Međunarodni kustoski tim <strong>Bijenala mladih Mediterana </strong>- <strong>Mediterranea 16</strong> &#8211; u sastavu: <strong>Slobodne veze/Loose Associations</strong>, <strong>Alessandro Castiglioni</strong>, <strong>Marco Trulli</strong>, <strong>Claudio Zecchi</strong>, <strong>Nadira Laggoune</strong>, <strong>Delphine Leccas</strong> i <strong>Charlotte Bank</strong> odabrao je među radovima pristiglim putem natječaja hrvatske predstavnike koji će sudjelovati na bijenalnoj izložbi <strong>Mediterranea 16: Errors Allowed</strong> u Anconi od 6. 6. do 7. 7. 2013.</p>

<p><strong>Mediterranea 16: Errors Allowed</strong> rezultat je rada kustoskog tima i međunarodne mreže BJCEM koja okuplja više od sedamdeset članova i partnera s područja Europe, Bliskog istoka i Afrike, te će ovoga ljeta u Anconi (IT) predstaviti 250 umjetnika(ca), koji djeluju na području Mediterana i šire.</p>
<p>Ovogodišnja tema Bijenala, <em><b>Errors Allowed</b></em> (Greške su dozvoljene ), bavi se proizvodnjom i režimima znanja, te strategijama samoobrazovanja, uzimajući u obzir Mediteran kao lakmus općih previranja, masovnih gospodarskih, političkih i društvenih promjena u posljednje dvije godine. Odabrani autori i grupe autora problematiziraju specifičan društveni kontekst, uvjete rada, te mehanizme produkcije i recepcije umjetnosti i kulture unutar njihovih sredina. Nerijetko kroz svoje projekte i radove generiraju različite forme otpora prema postojećim režimima znanja, strukturama i sustavima komunikacije, kao i ustaljenim narativima u kulturi i društvu, promičući prakse dijeljenja i koristeći potencijal jezika kulturne produkcije za komunikaciju javnih interesa i poticanja društvene akcije i solidarnosti.<br />
Izložba hrvatskih predstavnika/ca na Mediterranei 16 održat će se krajem 2013. u Multimedijalnom kulturnom centru Split.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.martinamiholic.com/" target="_blank">Martina Miholić</a> vizualna je umjetnica mlađe generacije, rođena 1981. u Zagrebu. 2004. godine diplomirala je na Grafičkom odsjeku Akademije likovnih umjetnosti u Zagrebu, a 2011. magistrirala na Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design u Londonu.</p>
<p>U vlastitim multimedijalnim projektima koristi se dekonstrukcijom vlastite pozicije kako bi analitički tematizirala načine stvaranja stereotipa, predrasuda i komunikacijskih čvorišta, rodnih i spolnih identiteta te njihovom refleksijom u dinamičnoj društvenoj stvarnosti.</p>
<p>U Haustor-galeriji LiberSPACE Martina će predstaviti mali D.I.Y. vodič kroz samoobranu, a u suradnji sa <a href="https://www.facebook.com/KravMagacentarZagreb?fref=ts" target="_blank">Centrom Krav Maga</a> iz Zagreba biti će demonstrirane tehnike samoobrane kao i pružene dodatne informacije svima zainteresiranima za temu.</p>
<p>Osim toga, zainteresirani su pozvani da, u sklopu događanja, predstave svoje vlastite autentične metode, alate i oružja za samoobranu!</p>
<p><i>„&#8230;Kad sam kod starog, ja bi mu popalila pola alata, već se počeo žaliti. Uvijek bi to nosila po torbicama i uvijek bi mi tamo ostao. Onako kliješta, čekići,  skalpeli, one igle za grafičke tehnike što nas je prof. Bičsi tjerao kupovati. Meni bi došao za stol i objašnjavao pola sata: &#8221;Znate kolegice, od tog metala su vam rađeni dijelovi ni više ni manje nego svemirskih letjelica&#8221;, govorio bi tako Bičsi i licnuo malo jetke s obližnjeg litografskog kamena.  No stvarno, to je bilo opako hladno oružje, specijalno bi ih zamatala da slučajno ne bocnem koga u tramvaju. No bila bi super scena kada bi zaštitari u Ksetu ili Močvari u potrazi za cugom nabasali na šrafnciger i slično. Cuga bi bila na sigurnom. Cuga u gaćicama, čekić u torbici. No po povratku iz istog Kseta ili Močvare, prolazeći nekim mračnim uličicama počela bi razmišljati o tim predmetima na malo drukčiji način.&#8217;&#8221; (M.M.)</i></p>

<p><b>Otvorenje izložbe je 15.3. u 20 sati.</b></p>
<p><span style="font-family:verdana, sans-serif;">Izložbom <i>aBook [artist's book]</i> polaznici ovogodišnjeg programa Kustoske platforme, uz mentorstvo <b>Ane Kovačić</b><b> </b>i asistenciju <b><b>Mateje Kuke</b>, predstavljaju</b> svoj istraživački rad na temu knjige umjetnika. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:verdana, sans-serif;">Polaznici i polaznice proveli su istraživanje zanimljivog i aktualnog područja te su bili podijeljeni u šest različitih grupa koje su se bavile definiranjem samog pojma knjige umjetnika, povijesnim razvojem, vizualnom poezijom, knjigom umjetnika danas te suradnjom umjetnika i kustosa. Na izložbi će kroz brojne primjere biti predstavljeni rezultati njihovog rada. Mnoge su definicije knjige umjetnika i mnogo je načina na koje ih umjetnici oblikuju. Ono što knjigu umjetnika čini drugačijim medijem od ostalih umjetničkih ostvarenja jest činjenica da ju se može uzeti u ruku, čitati, listati, gledati, opipati te na taj način ostvaruje blisku vezu s publikom. Umjetnici je shvaćaju kao prostor kojeg mogu ispuniti te na taj način prenijeti svoje ideje, stavove, intimna razmišljanja ili aktivistički progovoriti o temama koje ih zanimaju.</span></p>
<p>Knjiga umjetnika pojavljuje se zajedno s avangardnim pokretima početkom <a href="http://20.st" target="_blank">20.st</a>, a u Hrvatskoj pojavom konceptualne umjetnosti 60-ih godina <a href="http://20.st" target="_blank">20.st</a>. Iako pod pojmom knjige umjetnika podrazumijevamo i knjige poezije <b>J.P. Kamova</b> iz 1907. te zbirke konkretne poezije (<b>J. Stošić, Đerdan</b>), procvat tog medija dogodio se s pojavom <b>grupe Gorgona</b> i konceptualnim umjetnicima (<b>Stilinović, Trbuljak, Iveković </b>i ostali). Dio izložbe bavi se vizualnom poezijom koja se javlja s neoavangardnim pokretima u zemljama bivše Jugoslavije 1960-ih i 1970-ih. Vizualna poezija je granični medij između poezije i likovne umjetnosti, a ono što ih spaja jest svijest o jeziku kao materiji. Uz knjige vizualne poezije biti će izložena i popratna dokumentacija (časopisi, katalozi izložbi, eseji). Važan dio izložbe predstavljaju i knjige umjetnika danas. Mlađi umjetnici kroz ovaj medij reagiraju na društvene i političke fenomene ili reflektiraju svoj intimni svijet. Njihove knjige umjetnika nastaju često u sklopu istraživanja ili razrade nekog kasnijeg djela, ali nekima je i sama knjiga krajnji cilj. Često se dogodi da se čvrsta granica između dizajnera i umjetnika izgubi, što možete vidjeti u radovima studenata Dizajna vizualnih komunikacija s UMAS-a. Zanimljivo je istraživanje grupe koja se bavi odnosom umjetnika, kustosa i dizajnera, a koja je na vlastitom primjeru isprobala odnos navedenih uloga. Zanima ih privatan i intiman odnos s publikom. Izradili su vlastitu knjigu umjetnika koja doživljava svakodnevnu prezentaciju, a na izložbi će biti izložene male istraživačke prezentacijske forme koje bilježe život knjige.</p>
<p><span style="font-family:verdana, sans-serif;">Izložbu prati katalog </span><span style="font-family:verdana, sans-serif;">aBOOK [artist’sbook] Knjiga umjetnika — područje eksperimenta</span><span style="font-family:verdana, sans-serif;"> koji će biti predstavljen na samom otvorenju.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:verdana, sans-serif;">Na izložbi će biti predstavljene knjige sljedećih umjetnika: <b>Zvonimir Balog, Vlasta Delimar, Braco Dimitrijević, Fokus Grupa, Gorgona, Grupa Bosch&amp;Bosch, Grupa šestorice autora, , Sanja Iveković, , Luka Kedžo, Neva Kiš, Darko Kolibaš, Antun B. <p>Participants of this year&#8217;s Curator&#8217;s platform conducted a research of a very interesting and actual field . They were divided into six different groups which were dealing with: definition of artist&#8217;s book, historical development, visual poetry, contemporary artist&#8217;s book and designer &#8211; curator based collaboration.</p>

<p>There are many different definitions of what an artist&#8217;s book is and many different ways in which it can take form. What makes the artist&#8217;s book a specific medium when compared to other forms of artistic expression is the fact that one can hold it, read it, touch it and consequently the artist can achieve an intimate relationship with the audience. The artists perceive it as a space they can fill and in doing so, transfer their ideas, attitudes, intimate reflections or speak out loud about topics they are interested in. Artist&#8217;s book is a medium that emerged as part of the avangarde movements at the beginning of the 20th century, and the conceptual art of the 1960s. Although under this umbrella term we include also poetry (J. P. Kamov, 1907) and concrete poetry books (Josip Stošić, Đerdan), the real flourishing of the medium happened with the emergence of Gorgona group and conceptual artists. (Stilinović, Trbuljak, Iveković and others) Part of the exhibition is dedicated to visual poetry which was an important aspect of the neo-avangarde movements in former Yugoslavia, in the 1960s and the 1970s. Visual poetry is an intermedial art form between poetry and visual arts. The understanding of language as a material is what brings them together. Along with visual poetry books we will also exhibit documentation of the artwork (visual poetry magazines, exhibition catalogs, essays) Contemporary artist&#8217;s books also make an important part of this exhibition. Young artists use this medium to react to social and political issues, or reflect their intimate world. Their artist&#8217;s books often arise within a wider research, creative process or development of a later work, although for some they can be the ultimate goal. Often the strict line that separates the designer&#8217;s and the artist&#8217;s imput is crossed, which can bee seen in the works of UMAS Design and Visual Communication students from Split The exhibition is curated by the participants of the Curator&#8217;s Platform, mentored by Ana Kovačić, assisted by Mateja Kuka.</p>

<p><strong>*The Curatorial Platform</strong> is a programme dedicated to additional theoretical and practial education in the field of contemporary art. This year&#8217;s programme comprises three different moduls: Artist&#8217;s Book as the Field of Experiment, Fragmented Insight Into the History of Exhibiton Practices and Curating Arrangements From the 19th Century Untill Today, Curating on the Network and a field trip to Belgrade. A special place in the programme was reserved for curating a real exhibiton as part of the Artist&#8217;s Book as the Field of Experiment modul. This gave the participants the opportunity to learn different methodical, tehnical and theoretical tools regarding the conception and realisation of contemporary art exhibitions.</p>

<p><b>Retrospektivni pogled na rad i djelovanje eksperimentalnog filmaša Jonasa Mekasa u londonskoj Serpentine galeriji</b></p>

<p><i>Koračajući prema naprijed, na trenutke bih vidio kratko svjetlucanje ljepote </i>naslov je jednog od recentnijih filmskih uradaka <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Jonasa Mekasa</span>, vodeće figure suvremenog međunarodnog nezavisnog i (neo)avangardnog filma, rođenog 1922. godine u Litvi. Jonas Mekas ustanovljuje se u filmu još poslijeratne 1949. godine, od trenutka kada <span style="text-decoration:underline;">New York</span> postaje njegovo životno i radno odredište, nakon nekoliko ratnih godina prinudno provedenih u radnim logorima i prihvatilištima za izmještene osobe diljem Njemačke. Već tada je u svojoj rodnoj Litvi, prepoznat i po poetskim uradcima, a neke od njegovih zbirki poezije naslovljene <i>Idile</i>, i dan danas su lektira litavskih osnovnoškolaca. Štoviše, u toj je zemlji sudeći po izložbenoj bibliografiji tek odnedavno uistinu prepoznat i kao filmaš, unatoč prvim ponovnim susretima već početkom 1970ih godina, iz kojih proizlazi Mekasov antologijski osamdesetominutni film <i>Reminscencije s puta u Litvu</i> nastao 1972. godine.</p>
<p>Mekasova aktualna izložba u londonskoj galeriji <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Serpentine</span> pokušava upravo to, eliptički obuhvatiti cjelokupno autorovo stvaralaštvo s posebnim naglaskom na rane uporišne točke; od ranih fotografskih i intelektualnih početaka s bratom Adolfasom još u Njemačkoj, prvih poetskih uradaka, prve <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Rolex</span> kamere, kupljene već po dolasku u New York, koja je i danas, unatoč prelasku na video medij, njegov prvi alat.</p>
<p>Središnju točku izložbene prezentacije svakako čini i mozaik od 80 printova 16 milimetarskih filmskih frejmova, koji predstavljaju i vizualni kolaž Mekasovog najnovijeg filma, produciranog upravo za ovu izložbu i naslovljenog<i> Izdvojeni kadrovi života sretna čovjeka. </i>Ovaj prezentacijski postupak po kojem je Mekas prepoznat u muzejsko-galerijskom svijetu još od ranih devedesetih godina 20. stoljeća, svjedoči ujedno i o Mekasovom sustavnom pronalaženju drugačijih vidova predstavljanja, diseminacije, ali i popularizacije eksperimentalnog filma, koja ga je i dovela u galerijski svijet<i>. </i>Također, već taj prvi susret unutar izložbe uvodi u samu srž autorovih preokupacija; male filmske dnevničke forme svakodnevnog u odmaku od linearnih naracija i klasičnih filmskih postupaka. Već nam je na samom početku prilično jasno komunicirana introspektivnost kao osnovni parametar Mekasovih prikaza: niz proživljenih situacija s kojima on pokušava uspostaviti, skoro pa objektivizirajući odnos, koristeći tekst i eksperimentalni filmski vokabular kao odmak, te namećući se u tom procesu kao impregnirajuće prisutan, ali i emotivno odmaknut pripovjedač i vizualni operator. Ne može nam ne promaknuti i svjesno-letimično pisanje povijesti jedne umjetničke scene, s obzirom na figure koje se pred nama u Mekasovim filmovima uvijek iznova ukazuju. Vrlo brzo Mekas, već po dolasku u New York, postaje jedna od centralnih figura vrlo vibrantne umjetničke scene, te su mu bliski suradnici <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Andy Warhol, Allen Ginsberg, Kenneth Anger i Maya Deren</span>. Warhola je, kažu, inicirao u eksperimentalni film, a o podršci, koju su si međusobno pružali svjedoči i kratka filmska forma o nagradi Nezavisnih filmaša koju mu uručuje još davne 1964. godine. Isto tako, Mekas je od samih početaka po osobnoj poetici blizak članovima <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Fluxusa</span>, kao što je i ozbiljan promicatelj nezavisnog filma kroz organizacijske pothvate, ali i kritike u <i>samizdatima</i> ili renomiranim filmskim časopisima. I tako, već na samom početku izložbenog ophoda, možemo se uloviti na udicu prepoznavanja nekih od figura kulturne i društvene scene druge polovice 20. stoljeća, bitnih protagonista Mekasove svepreklapajuće umjetničko-životne konstelacije: <span style="text-decoration:underline;">od Salvadora Dalija do Theodora Dreyera, Stana Brakhagea, Kena Jacobsa, Allena Ginseberga, Paola Pasolinija, Georgea Maciunasa, Nama Juna Paika, Anne Karine, Lou Reeda, Edie Sedgwick, Andyja Warhola, Jackie Onassis Kennedy i malenih Kennedyijevih</span>, koje je Mekas sedamdesetih poučavao u eksperimentalnom filmu. Svi oni, sudjeluju u gradnji kratke vizualne poeme od po tri kadra, iz kojih proizlazi jedna topla koloristička patina i autorov pogled pun razumijevanja. U jednoj od daljnjih izložbenih prostorija taj je dojam snažne, zaigrane zajednice pojačan i kroz Mekasov projekt <i>Prvih 40 </i>iz 2006. godine. Otpočet 2006. godine, ovaj projekt pokazuje Mekasovu otvorenost novim filmskim tehnologijama i diseminacijskim procesima. Digitalizirajući i nanovo interpretirajući različite arhivske materijale on tako  stvara osvježene dnevničke poglede, iz perspektive nove stvarnosti, koju živi. Jedan od tih 16 mm filmova prebačenih u video format je i <i>Wahol i Maciunas</i> u trajanju od 3 min i 12 sekunda. Video počinje Warholovom izložbom u <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Whitney</span> muzeju 1971. godine, iz koje proizlaze dinamični kadrovi muzejskog postava i elektrizirana vizija plakata <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Campbell</span> juhe u urbanom okruženju. Sljedeća sekvenca bilježi maleni, bijeli, ciglasti interijer, gdje prepoznajemo <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Warhola, Maciunasa, Johna Lennona, Yoko Ono i Mekasa</span> u kuhanju i veseloj interakciji na temu pop arta i fluxusa. Sve završava kadrom snimljenim na ulici, gdje dvije skupine zaigrane mladeži formira &#8216;dvije gusjenice&#8217; koje se sudaraju. Same lokacije nisu naznačene, kao ni godine, samo je na početku umetnut tekstualni dio ispisan pisaćim strojem, koji navodi naslov, te ponekad i osnovne protagoniste. Atmosfera je zaigrana i prijateljska. Kao i u ostalim prikazima koji se odmotavaju: <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Allena Ginsberga</span> kako pjeva blues, <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Patty Smith,</span> Muzej grafita u <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Bronxu</span>, Hare Krišna okupljanje, redovnike filma, itd.</p>
<p>Za sve koji žele znati više, svakako je zanimljivo prokrstariti i Mekasovom webstranicom, kao jednom od bitnih komunikatora širokog spektra njegovog rada i iznalaženja novih načina za bivanje s filmom. Uistinu je ta posvećenost fimskom mediju, promicanje drugog pogleda unutar filmskog i neprestano aktiviranje suradničkih mreža oko filma, ono što nas najviše pridobiva kroz izložbu. To dodatno podupiru i portreti (neo)avangardnih filmskih redatelja u Americi i Velikoj Britaniji, snimljeni u razdoblju od kraja pedesetih do devedesetih godina 20. stoljeća. Mekasova znatiželja za svijet i filmske postupke u njemu, kao i njegove glavne protagoniste, kao da nikada ne presušuje.</p>
<p>U istoj prostoriji, niz je printova naslova <i>New Yorku s ljubavlju</i>. Ovo ljubavno pismo gradu, ispisano u celuloidu, koji ga je vratio u život nakon izgnanstva, ukazuje na još jedan bitan egzistencijalni element Mekasove autorske konstelacije. New York kao okruženje većine njegovih filmova, izravno je vezan i s jednom od autorovih najpoznatijih dnevničkih formi, <i><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Waldenom</span></i>. Paralelno s <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Thoreauovim</span> junakom i Mekas kao da uvijek iznova traga za što jednostavnijim podključem života, samodostatnošću i suverenošću filmskog izraza izvan sveprisutnih komercijalnih težnji, osobnom deklaracijom nezavisnosti i skupnim socijalnim eksperimentom. I baš u tom međuprostoru pronalazi duže ili kraće bljeskove ljepote.</p>
<p>Najdirljiviji dio izložbe zasigurno čini njegov najnoviji film, kao kolaž svega dosadašnjeg, ispričan u manje od 70 minuta. Skoro pa hipnotički uvlači nas u ljetna kupanja, skrivene kutke New Yorka, koji ispada megolopolom okupanom u suncu i prirodnom okolišu, gdje se  godišnja doba preklapaju, a vremenske i prostorne distance poništavaju. Litvanska šetnja tako postaje ljetovanje u <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Cassisu</span> ili pogled kroz prozor Mekasove životne družice s prijateljicom na rijeku <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Hudson</span> u kasnu jesen. I zaista, svi se ti kadrovi, toliko prirodno, smisleno i lako izmijenjuju i nadopunjuju. Idealizam <i>petnaestogodišnjaka izgleda prilično blesasto nama odraslima</i>, reći će <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Diane</span>, jedne od osoba, koje Mekas nerijetko citira u samom filmu. <i>Pokušao sam uloviti neke trenutke ljepote i sreće koji me okružuju od kada imam 5 godina, </i>nadovezat će se smjelo u <span style="text-decoration:underline;">voice off-u</span>, Mekas. Iako će se većina kritičara složiti da u svojim najnovijim uratcima, Mekas gubi na smjelosti i kontestaciji u prikazu, ne može nam promaknuti ta jednostavna, nepodnošljiva lakoća postojanja kao podtekst i dignitet življenja, koje autor promiče. <i>Volim ono što vidim, zašto bih to inače pokazivao, </i>reći će.  No, u istom trenutku, ne treba pasti u stupicu nostalgičarske interpretacije autorovog odnosa ka sakupljenom materijalu, koji to uistinu nije.<i> Ne radi se ovdje o mojim reminiscencijama. Moje slike jesu moja memorija, ali i time što su slike, više nemaju veze s mojim sjećanjima. Postaju jednostavno realnost. Koga briga za sjećanja? Meni to nije bitno, </i>kaže Mekas.</p>
<p>Time se ističe kontinuirana sadašnjost filmskog medija, koja se gradi u suodnosu s promatračem uvijek i iznova, danas.</p>
<p>Jednog ću se dana možda osamiti i izgraditi svoju drvenu kuću u šumi pokraj grada, reći će Mekas. Baš kao i <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Thoreauov</span> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Walden</span>. No, u međuvremenu još: <i>Želim slaviti male filmske forme, lirske forme, pjesmu, akvarel, etidu, skicu, portret, arabesku, bagatelu i kratke pjesme u 8 mmetarskom formatu. Stojim usred informacijske autoceste i smiješim se jer sam svjestan da je leptir na jednom malom cvijetu negdje tamo daleko, upravo zavijorio svojim krilima.  I znam da će se čitav slijed povijesti drastično promijeniti baš zbog tog istog vihora. Jedna super osmica upravo je pokrenula blagi povjetarac negdje tamo u newjorškom <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Lower East Sideu</span>, i samo zbog toga, svijet više nikada neće biti onaj isti. </i></p>

<p>GORAN RISTIĆ rođen je 1989. godine u Mostaru gdje je završio Likovnu školu te Akademiju likovnih umjetnosti, smjer- grafika. U svome radu koristi  medij slike, fotografije, videa, instalacije i performansa. Dosad je izlagao na četiri samostalne i brojnim skupnim izložbama u BiH, Hrvatskoj, Srbiji, Sloveniji i Makedoniji, a 2012.  godine dobo je nagradu za videorad na Međunarodnoj izložbi videa u Sloveniji, u Galeriji Velenje.<br />
Živi i radi u Zagrebu.</p>

<p><em>As we have witnessed over the past few decades, the mass politics of passion can often be a major driving force in the contemporary political arena. The “politics of emotions” represents the core of identity politics. To paraphrase Vjeran Katunarić in his article &#8220;The politics of memory”, the rulers of societal emotions are ideologies and their instruments of mass politics, primarily the media. Consequently, it can be said that our social and emotional capacities often limit our cognitive horizons. With respect to ideological speech, we are interested in its representation in language and image. According to Susan Sontag, the utopian aesthetics deployed in Nazi propaganda (i.e., identity as a biological given) implies an ideal eroticism (sexuality transformed into the magnetism of a leader and his joyful followers). The transformation of sexual energy into a spiritual force for the benefit of the community is the fascist ideal. Our interest is twofold: firstly, we are interested in the politics of emotions within the dominant political discourse, including the sexuality/sexualisation of ideological speech, and secondly, in its relation to the emotional community of two or more individuals.</em></p>
<p>.<br />
This was (more or less) the message we have emailed to a number of artists, theorists and cultural workers. We have chosen those practices/proposals which demonstrated a certain divergence, as well as a shift in form, i.e. interdisciplinary presentations, artistic explorations, lecture performances or film research. Our guests – the Bureau of Melodramatic Research (BMR) and Florin Flueras from Bucharest, and Romana Schmalisch and Robert Schlicht from Berlin – operate on the intersection of cultural practices, film theory and performance. Their preoccupation with emotions is expressed in the form, without abstaining from theatralisation and fictionalization, in addition to an analytical and reflexive approach.</p>
<p>.<br />
<span style="text-decoration:underline;">about the organiser</span><br />
k.r.u.z.o.k. is a platform directed primarily towards knowledge exchange and communication within the sphere of contemporary culture, art and theory, rather then towards their production and presentation. So far the work of k.r.u.z.o.k. was realised in different public and private locations throughout Zagreb  (Pogon, SC, AKC Medika, private locations&#8230;). It was of closed character, in the sense that the meetings were organised via a mailing list. The reason for this was that we wanted the direction of the platform&#8217;s activities to be self-determined, in accordance with the wishes and needs of the participants, rather then to be set in advance, which is common in project-based practices.<br />
Together with some guest participants, k.r.u.z.o.k. (whose number of participants constantly varies) is, for the first time, organizing a public programme:  lecture-performances, presentations, projections and discussions under the common title &#8221;Politics of Emotions / Economies of Love&#8221;.</p>

<p><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Nation and Negation</span><br />
(abstract)<br />
Nations exist. Or do they? What constitutes a nation? Passport? Language? Traditions? Or the political interests behind nation-states? The notion of the nation, as common-place as it seems, remains a subject of constant negotiation, be it between states or within the community that imagines itself as a “nation”.<br />
In our research project, “Nation and Negation”, we intend to investigate the notion of the nation – case study: Armenia – by means of a cinematographic research. Our conceptual starting point is the presumption of a parallelism between the constitution of a nation and that of a film: in both cases the individuals – the performers of a film; the subjects of a nation – are integrated within, and by way of, an overarching narrative that predates them and that creates an abstract communality between them. The progress of our artistic research will be part of the final work and turned into a filmic installation..</p>

<strong>Preliminaries</strong><br />
(abstract)<br />
The film “Preliminaries” traces the history of the statue “Worker and Kolkhoz Woman” by Vera Mukhina. This statue was originally designed for the Soviet pavilion at the 1937 World Exhibition in Paris, where it stood opposite the pavilion of Nazi Germany, enacting an antagonism that would result in a catastrophic war. It was later moved to Moscow and erected in front of the Exhibition of National Achievements of the Economy, which to the contemporaries appeared as a promise of a radiant future. After World War II, the statue became the emblem of the biggest film company of the Soviet Union, Mosfilm, and is shown at the beginning of every Mosfilm movie since 1947.<br />
In deciphering the statue’s diverse symbolisms and connections to the historical contexts, the film investigates into the notion of future as a central topic in the politics and culture of the Stalinist era.</p>
<p><del>BIO:</del></p>
<p><strong>Romana Schmalisch</strong> (1974 born and based in Berlin) studied Fine Arts at the University of the Arts (Universität der Künste) in Berlin. She was a resident artist in several stipend programs, among others as a researcher at the Fine Art Department of the Jan Van Eyck Academy, Maastricht, and in the Berlin Senate’s stipend program in collaboration with Whitechapel Gallery and Studio Voltaire, London.<br />
<strong>Robert Schlicht</strong> (1975 born and based in Berlin) studied Philosophy at Humboldt University Berlin. His thesis with the title “Passage au Cinéma” examined the relations of Walter Benjamin’s film theory and his theory of history and historiography.<br />
Together they develop projects at the interface of theory and film, investigating cinematic representations and the representability of historical processes and social structures.</p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">Protect Your Heart at Work</span><br />
(abstract)<br />
In the postindustrial economy the commodities are intangible: a feeling of well-being, the personal satisfaction, a sense of uniqueness and individuality, connectedness and protection. We produce emotions, trade in knowledge, invest on the market of ideas, speculate on compassion and monopolize happiness. Buy for a smile, sell for a laught. Affectivity, knowledge, communication, social skills, kinship, creativity, human contact, proximity, forms of life are at the heart of the mechanisms of production and valorization today.<br />
Under the present conditions, there is a high need to update the protection rules at the workplace. Since the workplace is everywhere and we embody the work, these rules become more and more important. What are the ergonomics of contemporary emotional work? How to avoid the repetitive strain injuries caused by recurrent smiling, compassionate inflections of the voice, endless nodding? We need new protection today because we no longer have a job, we are the job.</p>
<p><em>*Protect Your Heart at Work was developed and first presented as a dialogue with the Glass Lady in the Warsaw Technical Museum, with the support of Anna Ptak.</em></p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">Biosorcery</span><br />
(abstract)<br />
Without necessary knowing we are embedded in an economic logic that works as a religion, creating the forms of life that we are and that we experience around us. How to escape the mechanisms that are creating only one possible world, that are confining the virtual to an extent that any potential of variation is exhausted?<br />
How can we place ourselves in a position of self-fragilization, which allows a power to affect and a power to be affected?<br />
Sorcery was always the last resort for resisting this kind of religious take over of reality with its total organization of perceptions, behaviours and affects. Biosorcery is about production of new life from the precarious, bare life that inhabits us. It is about exhausting the spectacle potential, about achieving a affective bio- attention as opposed to the current marketization of distracted affection and non-empathic attentiveness.</p>

<p><strong>The Bureau of Melodramatic Research (BMR)</strong> is a dependent institution which actualizes itself through social and political realities, always facing the implosion of the possibility for panacea-art today. BMR examines the way in which key elements of melodrama are currently at work on the political scene. <p><strong>Florin Flueras </strong>is author and coauthor of projects like:<em> Postspectacle Trilogy, Presidential Candidacy, Romanian Dance History, A brave search of the ultimate reality, Cooperativa Performativa,</em> etc. His projects operate somewhere at the borders of contemporary art, performance, activism and political theory. He explores, investigates and criticizes the political component of art and the aesthetic component of politics &#8211; the power of Spectacle and the spectacle of Power.</p>
