poziv za predlaganje projekata

.

FEAST: Zagreb jest zajednički obrok i eksperiment mikro-potpore (umjetničkim) projektima, inspiriran sličnim projektima poput FEAST Brooklyn iz New Yorka ili Sunday Soup udruge InCUBATE iz Chicaga.

FEAST: Zagreb ujedno je i uvod u novi program Slobodne veze: This is not America.

Call for projects

Feast: Zagreb is a community meal and micro-granting experiment inspired by projects like FEAST in Brooklyn, New York, and Sunday Soup by InCUBATE in Chicago.

FEAST: Zagreb is also an introduction to our new program: Loose Associations: This is not America.

Featuring dishes prepared by guest chef Roman Petruniak with Slobodne veze//Loose Associations, cost of the meal will be 10 kunas per bowl.  All of the profit generated from the event will be given to support a creative project in the form of a micro-grant. Each guest at the meal will be allowed one vote to decide the winner of the grant.

Feast: Zagreb is presented by Slobodne Veze/Loose Associations, in collaboration with the group InCUBATE from Chicago USA. Since the project is taking place in the context very much different than the original, american one, and since The Loose Associations believe that competivity is not and cannot be the only possible way of social interaction, we wish that this meal serves more as an illustration of a method currently applied within the frameworks of the non institutionalized scene of Chicago, rather than a real competition.

The main goal of this project is to generate a conversation about the situation of arts funding for creative practices as well as to actually raise some money for a micro-grant.

Who can apply for the grant?

Anyone from anywhere can apply for anything.

How do I apply for the grant?

Email a 1-page description of your project to: slobodne.veze@gmail.com

Submission deadline: April 27, 2010.

FEAST: Zagreb will be followed by a public presentation by Roman PETRUNIAK entitled Creative Strategies Between Art & The Everyday in Booksa, Zagreb, on April 27 from 4.30 pm.

Roman Petruniak (bio):

Roman Petruniak is an art historian, curator, critic and artist from Chicago, IL.  Between 2007 and 2009, he was the curator of exhibitions at the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art (http://www.uima-chicago.org).  In 2007 he founded InCUBATE (http://www.incubate-chicago.org), a curatorial collective, artist residency program and experimental research institute seeking to develop new ways of thinking about financial support for creative activities.  Currently he is living in Kyiv on a Fulbright Scholarship to study the infrastructural support of socially progressive contemporary art in Ukraine.

The work of Petruniak often complicates the traditional definitions of art, arts administration, and everyday life.  His research asks the questions:  What new possibilities can arise when these boundaries are blurred?  What new types of creative strategies may be developed in the space between art and the everyday?

In the presentation Roman will introduce his work with InCUBATE, as well as give some information about his current work as Fulbright scholar in Kyiv.  He will especially describe a new program in Kiev called “Sunday Borsch” (http://borshch.newcitizen.org.ua), a bi-monthly community meal and alternative granting program designed as a DIY method of providing financial support to creative projects.
