Young Artists Biennial of Europe and the Mediterranean is an international network and a ” nomad ” event that has been running for over thirty years. Every two years it brings together artists from the partner countries and presents them in a joint exhibition, each time in a different city.

This year’s Biennale was held in June, in Ancona , under the title ERRORS ALLOWED and has presented over 200 artists selected by eight members international curatorial team (Charlotte Bank, Alessandro Castiglioni, Nadira Laggoune, Delphine Leccas, Slobodne Beze/Loose Associations, Marco Trulli, Claudio Zecchi) . Mediterranea 16 in Split presents this year’s Biennale through eighteen international artistic positions including a special programme/selection of videos by the curators Charlotte Banks and Delphine Leccas .

Through this year’s theme “Errors Allowed” within the framework of the biennial we were focused on the study of the regimes of knowledge and self generated education strategies in the arts and their reflection on the broader society. Selected authors and groups of authors problematized the specific social context , working conditions , and the mechanisms of production and reception of art and culture within their communities.

The exhibition in Split has been framed by Ivana Mestrov and Natasa Bodrozic (Loose Associations/ Slobodne veze platform).
