Motel Trogir: Alice doesn’t live here anymore

U Milanu, od 22. listopada do 22. studenoga, održava se Bijenale mladih Europe i Mediterana- Mediterranea 17, na kojem se predstavlja i projekt Motel Trogir i hrvatski umjetnici Igor Juran, Bojan Mrđenović i Ana Zubak.

Početkom godine započela je suradnja Bijenala mladih umjetnika Europe i Mediterana s udrugom Slobodne veze/ timom MOTEL TROGIR projekta, usmjerenog na očuvanje i zaštitu trogirskog motela Ivana Vitića. Tom je prilikom lansiran međunarodni natječaj za umjetničke prijedloge koji bi se na neki način referirali na samu zgradu ili kontekst kada je izgrađena, ali i na medij filma kao mogući kanal kroz koji je ideja motela stigla u tadašnje jugoslavensko socijalističko društvo. Na temelju natječaja, sedam umjetnika i umjetnica pozvano je na višednevni studijski boravak u Splitu i Trogiru u lipnju, čime je otpočelo dugoročno umjetničko istraživanje, koje će biti predstavljeno u Milanu od 22 do 25. listopada.

Troje umjetnika iz Hrvatske- Igor Juran, Bojan Mrđenović i Ana Zubak te njihove kolege iz Srbije, Slovenije i Velike Britanije (Sonja Jankov, Gaja Mežnarić Osole i Nuša Jelenec, Sandra Fruebing) od 22. do 25.10. ove godine borave na Bijenalu u Milanu gdje će predstaviti radove u nastajanju te sudjelovati u nizu radionica i razgovora koji će tematizirati složene odnose umjetničkog rada i građanskog angažmana te ugroženo moderno arhitektonsko naslijeđe sredine 20. stoljeća u post-socijalističkim zemljama, danas.

From 22 October to 22 November, the Young Artists Biennial- Mediterranea 17 will be held in Milan, Italy. On this occasion the Motel Trogir project will be presented along with artists Igor Juran, Bojan Mrđenović, Ana Zubak, Sonja Jankov, Sandra Fruebing, Gaja Mežnarić, Nuša Jelenec who developed new works in this framework.

Earlier this year, started the cooperation of the Young Artists Biennial Biennial with the Loose Associations / MOTEL TROGIR project team, aimed at preserving the motel in Trogir designed by the renown architect Ivan Vitić. On that occasion, an international open call for artistic proposals was launched that would in some way reflect the endangered building or the context which formed itt, but also the film media as a possible channel through which the idea of the motel arrived in the former Yugoslav socialist society. Based on the competition, seven artists have been invited to three-day study visit in Split and Trogir in June, which marked the beginning of a long-term artistic research, part of which will be presented in Milan from 22 to 25th October

Three artists from Croatia- Igor Juran, Bojan Mrđenović and Ana Zubak and their colleagues from Serbia, Slovenia and the United Kingdom- Sonja Jankov, Gaja Mežnarić Osole and Nusa Jelenec, Sandra Fruebing, from 22 to 25th October this year will be staying at the Biennale in Milan where they will present their works in progress and participate in a series of workshops and discussions that will tackle a complex relation between the artistic work and civic engagement, as well as preservation of the endangered modernist architectural heritage of the mid-20th century in post-socialist countries today.
