NIJE UVIJEK BUDUĆNOST ONO ŠTO DOLAZI

Pogled na umjetničku produkciju projekta Motel Trogir 2014.- 2018.

GALERIJA MKC Split/ Dom mladih_ Ulica slobode 28

Otvaranje 11.10.

Projekt Motel Trogir u 2018. podržavaju Ministarstvo kulture RH, Zaklada Kultura nova, Austrijski kulturni forum Zagreb.

IT IS NOT FUTURE THAT ALWAYS COMES AFTER

A review of the artistic production of the Motel Trogir project 2014-2018

Gallery MKC_ Ulica slobode 28, Split

October 11th- October 31st // Opening_ Thursday, Oct 11th @ 8pm

The MOTEL TROGIR project was launched in 2013 as a civic campaign and a project focused on social valorisation and formal protection of the architectural legacy of late modernism in Croatia, architectural heritage which is still not submitted to systematic institutional care. Special emphasis was placed on the protection of the Adriatic motels of the architect Ivan Vitić and the architectural and urbanistic values of Central Dalmatian modernism of the second half of the 20th century. The project consists of many activities and has developed a specific methodology which can be described as a combination of civic activism and scientific, publishing and educational work, including curating and producing contemporary art projects.

On this occasion, we present a part of the artistic production of the project, which took place between 2014 and 2018, starting with the first interventions in the public space of Trogir, through works produced during intensive artistic residences and study trips, until the recent thematisation of the KoteksGripe complex in Split and setting up info-signaling for two anthological accomplishments of modernist architecture in Dalmatia, for the Motel Soline in Trogir (architect Ivan Vitić, 1965) and for the Children’s Health Resort in Krvavica (architect Rikard Marasović, 1962-1964). The title of the publication we issued in 2016 Motel Trogir: It is not future that always comes after, is also the name of this exhibition that summarizes and contextualises our work in the last five years.
